Journal Article 2026 02 10 <strong>Objective</strong>: Iran, hosting over 120 <em>Allium</em> species, is recognized as a significant center for the diversity and speciation of this genus. <em>Allium elburzense</em>, an endemic species with medicinal value, is found exclusively in the rocky habitats of the Alborz Mountains. Its ecological importance, contribution to biodiversity, and medicinal applications underscore the critical need to determine its conservation status.<br /><strong>Methods</strong>: This study assessed the conservation status of <em>A. elburzense</em> through a combination of field surveys and literature review. Subsequently, the species’ conservation status was quantified for the first time using the criteria set by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), specifically the Extent of Occurrence (EOO) and Area of Occupancy (AOO), employing the rCAT software.<strong> </strong><br /><strong>Results</strong>: The assessment revealed an Extent of Occurrence (EOO) of 8,997.9 km² and an Area of Occupancy (AOO) of 204 km². Based on these metrics, <em>A. elburzense</em> is classified as Endangered (EN). High-resolution photographs of the plant in its natural habitat and detailed distribution maps were generated to accompany this assessment.<br /><strong>Conclusion</strong>: Given the critical conservation status of <em>A. elburzense</em>, its restricted distribution, and the ongoing anthropogenic pressures, the protection of its natural habitats and the establishment of genetic reserves are imperative. Furthermore, controlled propagation techniques using both bulbs and seeds in suitable adjacent habitats can mitigate the risk of extinction, thereby facilitating the sustainable management and conservation of this unique endemic species. <strong>هدف</strong>: ایران به عنوان یکی از مراکز اصلی تنوع و گونه‌زایی جنس <em>Allium</em> (پیاز) شناخته می‌شود و بیش از 120 گونه از این جنس را در خود جای داده است. گونه پیاز البرزی یا والک (<em>A. elburzense</em>)، گیاهی انحصاری و دارویی مهم در ایران است که پراکنش آن به ارتفاعات صخره‌ای و سنگی رشته کوه‌ البرز محدود می‌شود. اهمیت اکولوژیکی، تنوع زیستی و ارزش دارویی این گونه، تعیین وضعیت حفاظتی آن را امری ضروری می‌سازد.<br /><strong>مواد و روش‌ها</strong>: ددر این پژوهش، جایگاه حفاظتی گونه <em>A. elburzense</em> از طریق بازدیدهای میدانی و مطالعات کتابخانه‌ای، بر اساس معیارهای اتحادیه بین‌المللی حفاظت از طبیعت (IUCN) شامل «میزان حضور» (EOO/Extent of Occurrence) و «سطح تحت اشغال» (AOO/Area of Occupancy) گونه ارزیابی شد. تعیین این معیارها با استفاده از بسته نرم افزاریrCAT برای اولین‌بار انجام گرفته است. <br /><strong>نتایج</strong>: بر اساس معیارهای مورد بررسی IUCN، این گونه کوهسری با میزان حضور 9/8997 کیلومتر مربع و سطح منطقه تحت اشغال 204 کیلومتر مربع، در دسته گونه‌های در معرض خطر انقراض (EN) طبقه‌بندی می‌شود. تصاویر گیاه در رویشگاه‌های طبیعی و نقشه پراکنش آن تهیه و ارائه شده است. <br /><strong>نتیجه‌گیری</strong>: با توجه به وضعیت حفاظتی بحرانی گونه <em>A. elburzense</em>، پراکنش محدود و فشارهای انسانی وارده، حفاظت از رویشگاه‌های طبیعی این گونه و ایجاد ذخیره‌گاه‌های ژنتیکی امری ضروری است. تکثیر کنترل‌شده از طریق پیاز و بذر در زیستگاه‌های مشابه می‌تواند به کاهش خطر انقراض کمک کرده و امکان مدیریت پایدار و حفاظت از این گونه انحصاری را فراهم سازد.  https://ethnobiocons.qom.ac.ir/article_4355_2f92bff90a5a3aed07bf82c329f46707.pdf
